Entrepreneurship will enable you to become a job maker as you exploit and utilize the abundant resources in the environment through creativity and innovation. The 21st century requires people with the critical skills necessary for gainful production.
There is a high rate of unemployment in Uganda especially among the youth; therefore entrepreneurship is seen as the best option to equip you with the hands-on skills, knowledge and competencies required for starting and operating a successful business
This Learner’s Textbook has been written in line with the revised syllabus. The knowledge and skills that have been incorporated are partly required to produce a learner with the competencies required in the 21st century.
This has been done by providing a range of activities which will be conducted both within and outside the classroom setting. The learner is expected to be able to work as an individual, in pairs and groups according to the nature of the activities.
The teacher as a facilitator will prepare what the learners are to learn and this learner’s book is one of the materials which are to be used to support the teaching and learning process
Course Currilcum
- Chapter 1 Introduction to Entrepreneurship Details 1 year
- In this chapter, you will be able to appreciate the importance of studying Entrepreneurship education and demonstrate the characteristics of an entrepreneur. Look back in your community, different people, both educated and non-educated, have started up their own businesses with an aim of getting some profit or earning income and offer a service.
- Chapter 2 Businesses in Uganda Details 1 year
- In this chapter, you are going to explore the different types of businesses in Uganda. This will enable you to participate in business operations in Uganda. Different people in your communities deal in different business activities through which they earn a living.
- Chapter 3 Business Ideas and Opportunities Details 1 year
- In this chapter, you will be able to select a business opportunity from the environment and conduct a market survey. This will enable you to generate a business idea from the environment and create your own business to solve day-to-day problems.
- Chapter 4 Business Start-up Process Details 1 year
- After conducting a market survey for the selected business opportunity, the entrepreneur is ready to start the business by putting together the resources needed for the business such as the raw materials, buildings, labour, machinery and the required amount of money.
- Chapter 5: Introduction to Government Revenue Details 1 year
- We need to know where the government gets money to construct roads, build schools and hospitals, and pay government workers. Think of examples locally, nationally and internationally.
