E-learning training of BRAC teachers
A group of 54 teachers selected by BRAC Uganda successfully underwent a two day training in Digital Pedagogy and Content Development. The training was held at Imperial Royale Hotel from 25th-26th September and facilitated by the Ultimate Multimedia Consult team.
The teachers who participated in the training will deliver lessons online to MasterCard Foundation Scholars on the BRAC E-learning platform, hence the need for practical skills in content development and digital learning elements which were covered in the training. Tools for conversion, screen recording and text translation were shown to participants to help them develop multimedia content.
Practical sessions in designing graphics, editing audio and video were held to equip teachers with skills for multimedia content creation. Participants presented their designs and output from the sessions and demonstrated the process of how they achieved the final product.
A Key component of digital learning content is the ability to design interactive content and immersing learners in different areas. Teachers were trained in technologies like H5P and Google Tour Creator to design content that learners can interact with and access at anytime. This makes learning more exciting and collaborative.
Teachers received Certificates of completion of the training from BRAC Uganda after the training. Issues concerning content optimization going forward were discussed amongst teachers on how best content will be developed to suit the online learners.
