present simple tense

THEME: Changing verbs to present simple tense by adding ‘es’

The simple present is a verb tense with two main uses. We use the simple present tense when an action is happening right now, or when it happens regularly (or unceasingly, which is why it’s sometimes called present indefinite). Depending on the person, the simple present tense is formed by using the root form or by adding s or es to the end.

But we shall look at present simple tense by adding’es’

Present simple third-person verbs ending in -es
When we use he / she / it, we need to add ‘es‘ when the basic verb form ends in –ch or –sh or –ss:
I wash ⇒ he, she, it washesHe washes his car a lot.
I finish ⇒ he, she, it finishesShe finishes work at 5 o’clock.
I watch ⇒ he, she, it watchesShe watches television every evening.
I teach ⇒ he, she, it teachesMy mother teaches at a school.
I pass ⇒ he, she, it passesThe bus passes the cinema and the church.
