Rewrite and punctuate these sentences correctly.

“Shall we debate today, sir?” asked the information prefect.

  2. Your brother, who works as a chef has paid your school fees said my mother.

  13. Will you get me a menu before I can sit said the tourist.

Change these statements to indirect speech.

  1. “She always writes to her pen pal during the holidays,” said Ojok.
  2. Irene said, “We always attend remedial classes during the holidays.”
  3. Suzan said, “We sometimes go to town after the holidays.”
  4. “I celebrate my birthday every year,” said Philip.
  5. Hakeem said, “I sleep a lot during the holidays.”
  6. “We often go for a picnic during the holidays,” said the girls.
  7. “Our father normally picks us from school after breaking up,” said the brother.
  8. Wilson said, “I always travel to upcountry whenever I get holidays.”
  9. Faridah said, “My sister makes a programme for the holidays.”

Change the statements to indirect speech.

Change these statements to indirect speech:

  1. “I was planning to visit my friends this holiday,” said Messach.
  2. “I was hurrying to see my relatives,” said the girl.
  3. “You were escaping from school yesterday,” said Teacher Rose.
  4. He said, “We were revising last night.”
  5. “I was paying the bus fare,” said Ken.

Change these statements to direct speech:

  1. Edgar said that he was picking the report cards the previous day.
  2. James said that they had been attending the remedial classes the previous holiday.
  3. He said that he had been boarding a plane the previous night.
  4. John said, that he was writing to his pen pals when he was on his vacation.
  5. Kainerugaba said that he had been attending his friend’s birthday party during the holidays.
