Fun With CSS’s list-style-type

needle

I’ve written before
about my issues with religious moderates who build their own religions by
arbitrarily rejecting and embracing various pieces of their chosen holy
text.

To give a few examples, most Christians are unaware that God has very
specific and clear instructions on when people should be killed for
violating his rules:

So…

  • Using God’s name in vain

  • Working on Sunday

  • Cussing at your Mom or Dad

  • Having gay sex

  • Sleeping with a man’s wife (and kill the woman, too)

…these are all punishable by death, according to God. Look it up. But
how many Christians actually believe it would be “moral” or “right” to
actually kill for these offenses?

Very few.

The ones that do have a name–they’re called fundamentalists or
extremists. Moderates don’t actually believe what’s in the Bible; if
they did they would be following God’s very clear and specific orders
instead of using the Bible as an “influence” on their own pick-and-choose
morality. ::
