CHRISTIAN INVOLVEMENT IN THE MILITARY SERVICE (ARMY)

Christians should join military service because of the following reasons;

By joining the military service, man becomes protector of man’s life and property from the enemies which is Godly.

Christians do not live in location from the rest of the community and the nation at large. So, should take up its constitutional responsibilities including defending the territorial integrity of his country.

Christians are the light and salt of the world and by joining the military service they would give a good direction to other people so they are justified to participate.

Joining the army is not against the Christian principles because in the Bible all the men of Israel were meant to be part of the army to defend the country but did not fail out with God.

In the Bible there are examples of soldiers who were faithful e.g King David, Some Corinthians and Romans etc. Therefore, Christians are justified in joining the military service but should follow the Christian morals and principles.

By joining the military service, the Christians built a fence around the country from enemies and this brings peace and happiness to the citizens which is a biblical requirement. Mathew 5:9 “Happy are those who wait for peace God will call them his people”

The army is not only used for war but also used for other useful purposes like distributing relief aid in this of calamity hence justified.

Joining the military services; it promotes the spirit of unity and love for their nation since apart from war, they are encouraged to love their country.

Joining the army is also a form of service to the nation and Bible encourages service of a Christian towards the community.

The army is a sign of peace and God wants amongst his people. Therefore, Christian should participate in the army

By joining the army, a Christian will provide support to other security organs like the police in fighting crimes in the society in order to bring about peace.

The existence of a strong army in a country will stop other countries from interfering with its peace and stability leading to development hence a Christian should join military service.

However, Christians should not join the army because of the following reasons;

In case the intention of the army is to keep the leader in power in order to promote his interest

If the intention of the army is to cause war with in the country and other countries.

The Christians would always want to conquer evil with love since evil cannot solve evil which is contradicting with the purpose of the army.

If the army is to be used to abuse fundamental rights and freedom of the people then a Christian shouldn’t join the army.

Christians shouldn’t join the army if it is forceful without clear aims and objectives which are in line with biblical principles.

Jesus Christ brought peace to mankind whom he broke the chains of death through Christians are supposed to be at peace all the time.

Christians should not join the army if it’s a means of indoctrinating the youth with the ideologies of an autocratic system of government.

OTHER WAYS IN WHICH A CHRISTIAN CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE SECURITY OF HIS COUNTRY

Encouraging others who want to join the army through showing them the benefits of the army to the country and God’s kingdom.

By contributing to the welfare of the army through paying taxes, supporting them with food where needed etc

By buying healthy and disciplined Christians with Christian morals which can wake useful future soldiers as police officers.

By encouraging peace talks between the two conflicting parties.

By attending politician services or seminars of which should help the Christians to learn how to handle their enemies.

A Christian should involve in all sectors of society governance to give directions such as constitutional amendment etc

Giving advise and exposing insecurity which is likely to take place so that it is dealt with in time.

To be a watchdog for peace, security justice and rule of law with in the community and the country atlarge.

To support the implementation of government policies e.g separating the enemies from the public by putting them in the authorities concerned.
