In the current changing world, everyone needs skills which can sustain them in life. Physics is one of the subjects that can provide such skills. Understanding different methods and principles of Physics can enable you to know how things in the world work and why they happen the way they do. It can also equip you with problem solving skills through experimentation.
This book will introduce you to a number of concepts which if properly understood will boost your creativity and innovativeness. You will also realise that a numberf technologies are based on these concepts.
There are eight chapters in this book namely; Linear and Nonlinear motion, Refraction, Dispersion and Colour, Lenses and Optical instruments, General wave properties, Sound waves, Heat quantities and vapours, Stars and Galaxies and Satellites and Communication.
However, unlike the knowledge-based learning, the chapters in this course are activity based. They provide a hands-on experience on each and every concept and focus mainly on their applicability in everyday life. In addition, at the end of each chapter there is an activity of integration which involves a real life
problem that you will need to solve by applying the knowledge and skills you have acquired in the chapter.
Therefore, this course adds on your existing knowledge about Physics and will help you develop new ideas and concepts with guidance from the teacher during the learning process. By the end of these eight chapters you will be enlightened and able to approach problems from the Physics point of view.
Throughout the chapters in this book you will engage in team work, discussions, brainstorming, sharing ideas, presentations and research. All these approaches aim at making you discover your abilities, recognise and appreciate the efforts and contributions of other people towards learning as well as caring for the environment.
