As technology evolves journalists need to embrace Immersive storytelling and Virtual reality as a type of news distribution that fully takes the user into a storytelling experience.

The course gives students the opportunity to immerse themselves in a story that they can then take to their readers, watchers, and users.

Students will do this through 360 video, 180 degree photos, advanced video and photo production, audio stories, integrated social media and the written word.

Immersive storytelling can be defined as a technique that uses the latest technologies to create a compelling sense of presence.     It gives the audience the feeling of being there and being part of the actual event in question. It's a unique but impactful way of blending reality with fiction and virtual reality.

Using these immersive storytelling and virtual reality techniques, students will build experiences to help their audiences better understand complex stories, bring them to find places and put them in the center of a story.

The course will also introduce you the tools and devices  to create such stories.

It is also designed explore how creative storytelling projects including photography, virtual reality, interactive documentary, participatory and other cross-platform projects contribute to Information consumption in unique ways.

Technology today has changed so we need to adapt to these changes, the demand for this kind of information dissemination will be high in not far away future.

 As we have started realizing the common trend, gadgets being manufactured today. An information consumer of tomorrow has not time to get up and switch on Tv and channels of different TV programmes.

  • VR: Fundamentals of Immersive Storytelling 2 days, 12 hours
  • This unit highlights the tips for immersive storytelling creation. Immersive storytelling is a mode of technology that is finding its way into new spaces such as theatres, games, documentaries, advertising and journalism. The aim is to give people the feeling of really ‘being there’, calling on 3D gaming, virtual and augmented reality technologies in the process. Tech is making our media more entertaining, hard-hitting and unique.

  • This unit looks at tools, approaches & techniques that help us create VR content. Here we discuss the main phases of creating a VR project, the tools & skills needed.
